Melissa’s interest in mobile art started in 2011 when she joined Instagram. Interest turned into passion and currently over 170,000 people are following her on the social network today.
All of her work is shot and processed on the iPhone. She was recently named one of ten finalist for the 2012 MPA photographer/artist of the year. She was also awarded the 2012 MPA/ArtHaus photo essay winner for her collection, "The Rooms of William Faulkner". The series will be displayed at ArtHaus in San Francisco beginning April 5, 2013. Melissa loves driving around the Mississippi delta for hours with music and coffee looking for that perfect shot.
Vein of Stars
Mobile art is my key to wonderland, my fantasy world, my way down the rabbit hole. Instagram started me on the journey. From the beginning, the process of creating a photo on my iPhone was a soul bearing outlet for me. My work is surreal, story book like depictions of my every day surroundings and landscapes or other photos of nature. All of my ideas are rooted in the deepest part of the Mississippi delta. My goal is to paint the South in a magical and positive way through my iPhone art.
