Selecting your photo or digital image

What kind of images can I use to create my canvas print?

Just about anything you can imagine. With CanvasPop, you can create a canvas print from any format at almost any resolution from virtually any source. Our skilled technicians can work with virtually any image format, size or resolution.

Details:

  • We accept all popular formats including JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP and more.
  • You must own copyright or have permission to use the image.
  • For photo-realistic results, it’s best to use higher resolution images (150 dpi at the size you want).
  • Generally you file size will be around 1MB – 5MB we can accept files up to 20MB in size.
  • CanvasPop’s customized effects and filters enable you to take even the lowest resolution image (72 dpi) and enlarge it to nearly any size.

Can I use my low-resolution photo to print to canvas?

Sure! Higher resolution is always better but gives us what you got and we’ll make it work. Using our innovative filters, you can choose to upload even a low-resolution image from Facebook or your phone. We’ll transform it into a stunning image on canvas- you’ll have to use one of our special effects/ filters to avoid creating a blurry looking image.

If you want your photo to be picture realistic (i.e., no special effects or filters), submit your image at 150 dpi sized-as. Usually a file size between 2–5MB means it’s good enough for us to work with.

Can you scan a picture for me?

Yes! Just check off the option on the upload page and then follow the instructions on how to mail us the physical picture.

Details:

  • We’ll scan it for you at no extra charge and send it back to you with your finished print.
  • The maximum size image we can scan for you is 8.5 inches x 11 inches.
  • How do I know what my art piece will look like once printed?

We will send you a free digital proof that will give you a clear detailed preview of your art piece before we print it. You will even have the opportunity to make minor modifications or comments if needed before we print it.

How do I give a print on canvas as a gift?

Surprising someone special with canvas pictures has never been easier. You can either buy them a gift certificate or upload a picture, almost any picture from Facebook® or virtually any other website – so you don’t even have to ask them for the original. Imagine their surprise.

Your options and printing

I have a great photo to print, but it needs some tweaking. Can you help?

We’re here to help! Our human-powered™ customer care and PicturePerfect™ technology ensure that you get photo-realistic, gallery-quality prints optimized for any sized canvas, every time. At your request, your photo will be adjusted by CanvasPop’s professionally skilled technicians.

Details:

  • We use over a dozen “visual checkpoints” to ensure your images are optimized on contrast, color balance, and more before we send print your canvas.
  • We’ll even remove red eye from your photos as part of this optional free service.
  • We also offer additional services for a small fee in which our technicians can apply great looking filters to your image transform it into something all-new and eye-poppingly different (i.e.: oil painting effect, sketch effect, etc.)
  • You’re in control of what happens.

What kinds of wrap and framing options do you offer?

We can ship your canvas rolled in a tube, we can stretch (gallery wrap), or we can frame it for you—it’s up to you how you want to present your photo-to-canvas art piece. Plus, if you choose the gallery wrap, we offer both 1.5-inch or our exclusive jumbo-sized 2.5 inch wrap. No one else offers this range of great choices!

Details:

  • Gallery wrap is secured to the back of the high quality wooden frame.
  • We offer thicknesses of .75”, 1.5” and our super-thick 2.5” stretcher bars.
  • Staples used for securing the canvas are not visible on the sides.
  • Our method of stretching and preparing a canvas allows for a frameless presentation of the finished canvas print.

What’s the difference between lamination and varnish?

We’ve experimented extensively with both techniques. We only use the superior method of heat laminating over liquid varnishing techniques. The reason we use lamination is because it creates a superior, more durable and uniform matt finish compared to varnishing. It’s also far less susceptible to cracking and resists fading for over 100 years. Granted it’s more time consuming and more expensive (for us) to do it this way, but your art deserves nothing but the best.

How can I tell what my photo will look like on canvas before printing?

Everything is easy and risk-free with CanvasPop. You get a free digital proof emailed to you, previewing what your finished work will look like on canvas. Plus a CanvasPop representative will contact you (free option) if there are any outstanding issues before we print.

What kind of canvas do you use?

We print on the world’s best canvas, bar none. Your treasured photos deserve no less. Every CanvasPop canvas is matte textured 20.5 mil bright white, consistent poly-cotton blend.

What does your lifetime guarantee cover?

On top of our 30-day 100% satisfaction guarantee we also offer an exclusive lifetime guarantee. This covers any manufacturer’s defects such a loose canvas, waves in your canvas, bubbles or fading of your canvas. In addition, we will also cover any warping of the stretcher bars. If this occurs we will either replace your canvas or fix it at our cost, you would only be responsible for shipping the original canvas back to us.
